thanks Ike, i will see what he says about that idea, but the next problem would be that there isn't too much room for another battery, but we will see...

our old Dodge Power Wagon has that, except it used to be 2 12volt batteries, but now it's only 12volt...

Thanks

Johnny

Suggest getting or making a wiring diagram for your 6 volt truck. Make sure all of the relays (solenoids), electric motors, bulbs, circuit breakers, fuses, gauges, reostats, switches/turnsignals are noted.

Then, drawing out a 12 volt electrical system based on the existing 6 volt system. This will be a good decision making tool. What can you easily convert to 12 volt and what and where you will need a voltage drop?

Depending on how your truck is wired. It may not be much of a job to convert to 12 volt or it could be a major/expensive undertaking.

thanks Eugene, we bought a manual for it from binder, all 798 pages  i will photocopy the wiring diagram, and then we can draw on it...

i don't think it will be very expensive to convert to 12, or just keep it six, either way, we are probably still going to have to buy the same stuff, well replace....

Thanks for the advice guys :!:

Glad to see you got the book. I am proud of you and your dad for doing it with intelligent input. The more you study it, the more you learn. Doing it this way is a form of summer school in that it makes you get all the facts before you come to a decision not after the change doesn't work. Looks as if your dad is a keeper and so are you.

we were going to buy the book eventually, but we bought it sooner cause we were having some problems with the brakes (hydra vac) and the hood adjustement, and now i think it was a good investment...

Thanks

Johnny
