My wife and I spent last weekend in Custer, SD. On the way up we went by a field that had about 100 tractors in it. I went back the next morning and met the owner. He said he has 256 tractors, about 200 of which run. No Cubs, but every brand you could think of, and some I'd never heard of. He also had a long row of horse drawn equipment, and I brought back a Thomas hay tedder with an 1899 date cast in it. This will go along with a Thomas grain drill that I restored a couple of years ago. Still a lot of original paint and pin striping visible on it. He's going to let me know about prices on a couple of other tractors he had, so I may have to drive back up there next spring. The weather was great. Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse are both spectacular and we saw a ton of wildlife. Probably 200 wild turkeys, whitetail deer everywhere and magnificent buffalo in Custer State Park. If you've never been there, add it to your list of places to visit.
