Postby Jeff Silvey » Sat Aug 04, 2007 6:28 pm

I forgot about his engine at my deceased parents home. It seems to be a big one. I will get pics tommrow. Heres the numbers though.
Model 23AR 6
Type 003001
S/N 808762
If there's a web site that I can get info from please let me know.
It does have a gear redution on it. I'm thinking its a 9 HP.
Thanks
Jeff

Jeff:

You should be able to find more info on this particular unit at the Briggs & Stratton web page. Seems pretty comprehensive.

Unfortunately, I was not able to find info on your particular engine. Probably because there is none to be had at this particular moment.

I do have a B&S Service Manual.. can you post more detailed engine information to aid in the search. Oh, I also mentioned in the B&S Survey.. what the shortcomings were, why I was there and what improvements could be made.. such as increase the size and composition of the on-line archive.

The B/S Service and Repair Manual, 1984, lists the engine. The engine is also listed in a 1972 OEM parts manual.

23 cubic inch displacement

AR = ??

6 is probably the gear reduction.

I have an excuse. CRS.

I think this was used in the late 60's to mid 70's on a bucket machine to clean sewer.
When I typed the model # in it the web it gave me the HP & RPM'S
It's going to be FS here in the next week or so.
Thanks
Jeff
