A friend of mine just bought a 1949 Allis Chalmers WD narrow front, pretty good condition, and it came with a ton of attachments. We went looking through a field yesterday and we found a side mount sickle bar mower for it. We were kind of interested in how much something like this is worth. Also, there is a 8 foot (not sure on that size exactly) pull behind discs that he has no use for. If anyone is interested in the discs, please let me know. Also i was wondering if any of you guys knew how the hydraulic pump is put together... it's leaking and he replaced the main gasket but that didn't fix the problem. Again, any information on this thing would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much!
Amanda

Amanda,
The best information on value is a recent transaction a willing seller and a willing buyer agree on when neither is under duress! What he paid is better information than outside speculation.

How much is a WD Allis worth? Ball park figure around $1000- for one in decent working condtion. Then add in the equipment and another $200 or so if equiped with a 3-point hitch.
On the hydrualic pump leak. If the pump is leaking, kits are available from AGCO/Allis. The pump is piston operated. 4 pistons and very complicated.
Hydraulic fluid is stored in the torque tube. There are seals on both ends where the transmission drive shaft passes through. The PTO is mounted to the bottom of the torque tube. Look for a hydrualic fluid leak in the PTO area - easy fix. Well, a lot easier than dismanteling the tractor to get at the torque tube.
I&T manual AC-11 is well worth buying. This manual has an exploded view of the hydrualic pump.
You might want to keep the disc. They come in handy every once in a while.
EJP's neighbor was looking for a sickle bar mower for an Allis.
