I was thinking the other day that it's only been 3 years since I was out to a Tractor show with my Dad and David (son). that's as close as i can figure to the exact moment that the RUSTY IRON DISEASE infected me. I recall seeing a cute little red tractor go by my Dad's display of hit-n-miss engines and thought "I'd like to play with one of those"
Turns out what I saw was a Farmall Cub (go figure!)
Well, that led to cobbled cub, then my 'A', then primer pete, and then.....



i kinda skipped B,C,H, and M...but hey, this thing is fun to drive

Actually, I have a purpose for this unit. It's needed for Hay Wagon duty for our shows. So my intent is to repair and give it a 10 foot paint job over the winter and donate it to the Farm. See, you can ALWAYS find an excuse to buy a tractor

Sounds like as good an excuse as any. If you want a real thrill, see what happens when that seat spring breaks. You're going down while the end of the bolt is going up past your nose.

We were in dissassembly and discovery mode last night. i need a manual first thing, of course, but it looks like there's a spring missing from the governor flyweight assy. compression came in at 80lb's accross all four, which i'm not pleased with, seems low. clutch and transmission work nice. transmission seals leaking on the brakes. looks like a double seal in a carrier with jacking threads in two spots. but again i need a service manual.

figured somebody would notice.... i don't expect i'll be able to find fenders and the rear platform without giving up my firstborn.... with only 46000 odd tractors produced. anyone got a set?

having those big 16.9 X 30 tires spinning next to you takes a bit to get accustomed to. especially since the clutch pedal is worn. sent that out with the shaft for a machinist to install bushings.

confirmed that the governor is missing the return spring. wonder what else?

You're right about those fenders being hard to find! All of the W series tractors fenders reach right down around where they got backed into things like wagons, barns, trees, you name it!! It would likely be cheaper to find another tractor with repairable fenders than to find just fenders!

are the fenders the same on a super W6? found a set of those, if they are still there.

if i cant find a drawbar, i'll fabricate one for temp duty

I think the fenders and Dbar should both fit from a super. The main changes were to displacement, and live hydraulics.

Comparing my 6-Series (12/47) and Super (6/52) books, the fenders kept the same base part number but had some revisions ( DA to DD). So they will fit. Same with the left front platform (D to DA). The rest of the parts were the same after W-6 # 7035. The Super also shows 3 additional small braces for tractors with PTO.
