Valve Job

Postby rdkinship7 » Sun Feb 20, 2011 6:55 pm

'54 Farmall Cub. Poor compression. Suspect it needs a valve job. I have no prior major engine repair experience. Once the head is removed and the valves replaced/or ground to tolerance, will the engine need to be retimed after the head is replaced?

As long as the governor has not been removed - re-timing will not be necessary. Just set the valve lash.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
