That is absolutely one of the most dangerous ways to try to get a tractor unstuck. If that log bites in hard the tractor will flip before you can blink. Watching the front rise as he comes out shows that it can happen. He was lucky enough to have enough slip to stay upright.
Definitely not the thing to do.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

If you look closely, he has cables on the front to hopefully keep it form going to high, but even so it is still unsafe. Dad did that with a Farmall H many years ago. I was at school and did not see it, but he said the front came up at the same time the rear wheels climbed out of the holes. He told me he would never do that again.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

I could see the danger in that method just thought it was a really strange way to get out of a mud hole , but as mention a front end can lift so quick that ya don't know what happen until its already happened , they got lucky for sure..

Just read the cartoon on page 12 of the 1947 Owners Manual. It says specifically to not do that. I can't believe I remember it was in there from 10 years ago!
