I replaced an axle bearing and a seal on a Massey Ferguson 40 Industrial Backhoe with that same type of axle. I inquired about the cost of the axle planetary and the axle differential lock assembly. The planetary and the ring gear was $1200 .The lock assembly was another $1000.
I just could only imagine what that unit cost. Jack Fowler Last edited by JackF on Sun Jan 16, 2005 7:15 pm, edited 1 time in total.
I’m really good at doing nothing…With that said…I’m really, really good at doing nothing
To replace all the damaged parts which include
-axle -axle housing -planetary complete -differential housing -center carrier complete -bevel and pinion gear -all brgs, seals and shims -misc small parts The cost is a mere $24,000 for parts and $2-3,000 labor Of course we think we can save the axle at a savings of $2700 The axle housing is not available at this time and we haven't been able to find a used one yet. We tried welding and boreing the ring gear bore but the casting wont take to welding so we are stalled for now. This came from a local municipal landfill. As if our taxes weren't high enough Rondell
