Reverse was an option on the Big Chief.

I can't help any on the "apparent" Big Chief, but I have a Bolens "Power Hoe Deluxe" like that one. It's been a few years since I've run it, though. I had to have one, since we had one when I was a kid.

The seller said his step-dad liked to paint things yellow and said this was one of the things he repainted. It was probably orange in it's earlier days.

I knew I could get some info here.
When I moved back into my parents' place about 5 years ago, my dad had a one wheel cultivator in the chicken coop.
Hadn't run in years and years and I barely remember him ever using it.
It seems he may have used it to hill his potatoes but not sure

I'm embarrassed to say that I needed the chicken coop for chickens and moved this machine out into the weeds.

Stumbled across it yesterday and found a plate.
Great Lakes Tractor Co in Ohio and it says Chief.

As far as I know, it is just a cultivator.
There are 4 or 5 straight times on the back

Not sure what engine it has but the serial number is readable.

Not a lot of stuff online about either Great Lakes or this machine

Looks like some here have some knowledge of it.

Since I'm retiring in a couple months, I was thinking of seeing if I could get it running
