I got one of the Johnny buckets for the front of my mower. I like it, but the rear end is light and the traction is minimal limiting the use of the bucket. My questions:
1. are rear wheel weights or suitcase weights better?
2. would long-term use of rear wheel weights hurt the drive train on a mower tractor?
Thanks,
Todd

Re: rear weight on mower
I have rear and front weights plus additional weigh under the front end, permanently mounted, on a standard Cub. I also have several narrow framed Cub Cadet garden tractors with permanently mounted rear wheel weights. Weights are not a problem for standard farm or garden tractors.
I also have a belt driven John Deere lawn tractor. Don't think the JD lawn tractor's drive system would stand up to stress from additional rear wheel weights.

I have an excuse. CRS.

Re: rear weight on mower
Todd,
JD 425..........add all the weight you need.......wheel weights or suitcase weights. I use dumbbell weights. You may want to add lug tires too. They will help with tractions or even tire chains help too.
Good Luck!
