8) New ad in tomorrows trader-paper, Something I might just check on. I am wondering if this might be a Cub engine.

If it has a big boxy galvanized square box for a radiator enclosure it is from a thresher or such. If it has a front grill like a tractor it is a stationary power source and used for power generation or to run pumps. I have one from a #64 thresher and use it to power a buzz saw. they have a different governor and run at 2700 RPM no load and 2500 RPM full load as compared to 1800or 1600 for a CUB.

The side pulley makes it sound like the setup for a 50T baler. They didn't have a clutch but relied on a belt tightener. It's also possible he is describing a 113 C.I. engine (same as an A or B) that was also used for small power units. In any case, if it's complete it's probably a good deal.

Make sure it isn't the small Continental engine IH used before 1947 and replaced by the Cub engine.

Well I guess I will never know what engine it is/was. I called last night right after I posted here and got a static noise like when the line is tied up by a computer user so I hung up and recalled and got a message that the phone was unable to be an answered at this time and`to leave a message after the beep. I left a message about the ad and my number to call me but never have heard from anyone. :o

:P Funny, Right after I posted My last post the phone rang and it was the old geezer with the engine calling. I drove the 60 round trip to look at it and then had to wait an hour for him to get home. While I was waiting I found the unit sitting out in the grass so I looked it over the best I could. I checked for parts missing and checked the oil which was within safe range but somewhat blackish. Plug wires were there but disconnected then I noticed the crank was on it so I turned it over without much effort and also heard the mag trip. Anyhoo to make a long story longer the owner finally showed up and He said it was originally out of a baler. I looked at the tag and it says I-H Power Unit. I offered him $100 for it and he says nope $150 and there are 3 other guys coming to look at it if you dont take it. SO, I says sold, I will bring My truck tomorrow to get it. :P . He has an Allis-G grader that he is asking $1000 for but its to bad looking for that price even though he said it runs good but needs a lot of minor fix-its.

I guess its a C-60. The block looks just like the engine in My Cub. It has a big rounded grille screen in front of the radiator but the rad is different in that it has a bottom tank. I will look it over better when I get it home and relay the info to ya`all.

You are describing the donor unit that supplied the engine for my tricycle Cub. The only difference that matters is the fan shaft and larger fan. Of course it's necessary to change the flywheel.

You might want to check out the going price of an Allis G in your area. Around Mid Missouri they are hard to come by. Friend from work sold one at auction for $1200 and it had a home made front axle.

Front axles must have been a weak point on them. Most of the ones I've seen have been reapired/reinforced.

I just got home and am too pooped to pop the lens right now but I will take some pictures tomorrow either before or after or both before I unload it off me truck. :arrow:
