how much hp do you need to pull a 2-3 bottom plow a 7ft cultipacker a 7ft disk and a 10ft grain drill

From my research 4 to 5 hp per foot of equipment width. This info must be for tractors now days. Weight of the tractor has alot to do with it too. A 35 hp tractor would not have problems with a 2 bottom plow (14"), 7' cultipacker or 10' grain drill, but would have problems with a 3 bottom plow and a 7' dual disc harrow.

A 35 hp tractor would pull a fairly good size sprayer, but would be limited in stopping it. I once did a holloween hay ride. The first run was over loaded with people on the hay wagon. I thought nothing of it until I tried to slow the tractor down. The second and following loads where limited to the number of people on the wagon.

water weighs approximately 8 pounds per gallon, and the spray mixed with it will only change that a little, so take that into consideration, along with the weight of the spray rig. As has been stated, not just pulling it, but also controlling and stopping it in unexpected situations has to be taken into account. It isn't just the horsepower of the tractor, but also the weight. Our Farmall H which was only a 25 hp rated tractor (back when the ratings were real), frequently handled loads of the same size as our neighbors M, which was rated at 35 hp, because of the weights on our tractor. It had 3 sets of wheel weights, plus fluid in the tires where the M only had a single set of weights and no fluid. The H weighs 3900 pounds and had approximately 1900 pounds of weight added to the rear wheels (also had high compression kit) for a total of 5800 pounds, while the M weighs 4900 pounds plus 300 pounds of weight for a total of 5200 pounds. Our other H had a standard engine with only one set of weights.

The loaded H in Mo. clay could pull a 2 bottom 16 inch plow (3rd gear), or is the easy bottom ground along the Bourboise River could pull a 3 bottom 14 inch, or a 7 foot gang disk with weight. The standard H could barely handle a 2 bottom 14 inch plow in our clay, but could pull the 7 foot tandem disk with no weight on the disk. One thing to remember about these old tractors though was that they were geared very slow, so it took a while, but they lasted much longer than the modern ones. Thanks to members of this forum, I still have Dad' original H that he farmed with for 45 years, but the most serious work it does now is occasionally hauling a trailer load of kids to the creek.
