I just found out that you can order photocopies of any IH tractor or implement manual from the Wisconsin Historical Society for $15.

I just sent them a request for a 1701 Loader. I'll report back how it goes.

Paul:
Many thanks for the info. I just sent off a request for the Cub-54 Leveling and Grader Blade Operating Manual. I sure hope they have one...
If they do then that link will definitely go up on the server page.

Hi Rudi
I took Jim Becker's suggestion - I never noticed the Binder Books "implements" section -I just found this:
1005880
Cub 54 & L-54 Blade For Farmall Cub & International Cub Lo-Boy
$4.95
Is that what you're looking for? Unfortunately they didn't have the 1701 Loader I'm looking for.

Just to follow up on the Wisconsin Historical Society - they do seem to have an extensive collection of IH manuals - but they're not cheap:
We do have an operator's manual for the International 1701 Loader. If you would like to purchase a photocopy, our fees are $17.50 for non-Wisconsin residents ($15.00 for Wisconsin residents and $12.50 for Wisconsin Historical Society members), plus $.25 per page. This manual has 24 pages, so the total charge would be $23.50. All copies are made on yellow paper for security purposes. If you would like us to copy the manual, just let me know, and we will send the invoice with the copies.

Paul :
The manual that they have listed as the Cub-54 under the Implements section on their web site is actually the Cub-54A Manual. I called and Jack checked it out for me. They made a typo on the web page. I think they are going to correct that.
He is going to try to find a manual, but it could be a long time before I get any word on success or failure.
I am sure hoping that someone who actually has a 54 Manual will pop up and let us know..

There is a happy ending to this story! Amazingly, I was able to find a new, original manual for the 1701 loader from an IH dealer (Hoober.com) from whom I purchase parts mail order. They were only $8.50 each. They had four on the shelf!
Wonder what other printed manuals thay have? Rudi, perhaps you should contact them regarding the 45 blade you've been hunting for. . .

Paul:
Congratulations
Perservance and some luck paid off. Excellent..
I sent Earl an email and I hope that I may be as lucky as you have been. That Cub-54 Manual is certainly proving to be an elusive critter.
Thanks for the heads up, I do appreciate.
I am glad that you were able to find the 1701 manual

Paul:
No such luck. He doesn't have one that he can see. If I can get the correct part number for the manual he will look some more.
Anybody got a part number?

Rudi
Jack at Binder Books provided me with the IH Part number for the 1701 loader. I recall you said you had already consulted with them though. . . .
