Anyone here familiar with Wheel Horse riding mowers? I've come across one for sale and was just curious. I've never heard of them.

They are quite popular with the garden tractor world, I have never owned one but they appear to be well made. There is a wealth of info available on the web.

Thanks David. Gives me food for thought. The one I'm looking at runs good but has got alot of minor issues going on. Needs front rims or something is going on with front axles. He's the original owner(1978). He's rigged the wiring all willy nilly looks like to me. I can't make heads or tails out of it. Altenator(?) doesn't charge. Needs a paint job(guess that would be major! LOL) It's the first Wheel Horse I've ever seen. Does look to be a really solid machine. Wish I had taken pics. He want's 350 for it

Wheel Horse has always been quite popular around here, I assumed they were all over the country. There were many different models built throughout the years, some very desirable, some not as much. Like David said, they are quite popular with the garden tractor crowd. I see both original and restored units at virtually every show I attend. They built a lot of good machines.

Thanks Gary. This is a 1978 C120. I want it but with Christmas coming and me wanting a dirt scoop for my Cub and having just bought a blade from Boss, think I'll have to pass on it for now

Did any one used wheelhorse attachments with their Farmall cub? I'm almost buying Brinly moldboard and disc harrow. Hoping they will fit in drawbar.

The Brinley attachments are a little light duty for a cub. If you hit a rock or root, etc. you will bend the beam.

I use "Gardentractortalk" for information on garden tractors. I can usually find the information I need, such as tractor and engine manuals.

Edit: $350- asking price. If this is a running tractor in pretty good condition, price sounds fair. If the tractor is not running, appearing to be a parts tractor, guessing $100- would be a fair price.

Thomas, does it have any attachments laying around. Garycharles has one, not sure if it is running. One of the neighbors use to have one with a blade and a breaking plow, and mower. Missed it when he sold it and it was in top notch shape. Don't remember what he got for it, but they are pretty neat.

bend the beam for cub or Brinley? I will be using this plow in small yard 50*100 within my orchard, no heavy plowing. I'm concerned about my cub and drawbar not to damage or bend drawbar on my cub.

Alig:

You are not going to hurt your Cub with a Brinly hitch and plow. What you might do/probably do if the plow gets hung up or hits something large is hurt/destroy the hitch and the plow beam.

Suggest you follow the links below and read up on your Cub, especially the Owner's Manual:

If you click on the Site Rules, Regulations, & Important Information, it will point you to  the Welcome Wagon wherein you will find links to many useful sites and topics. One of which is the Cub Manual Server. Enjoy!.

Shouldn't bother the Cub, however, the Brinley plow beam will probably bend like a pretzel if it hits a solid obstruction. As for plowing in an orchard, without further description of the site, you may experience a lot of tree roots. Depending on the size of the roots - - not fun.

TMays, Wife has a 1972 Raider 10 w/ Tecumseh HH100 engine and 6 speed tranny. Three speeds and R times 2. Very good tractors, but beware of the ones with Tecumseh engines as parts are getting very hard to find. Kohler powered ones should be ok. HH100 has altenator behind the flywheel and a rectifer behind the dash. Some have resorted converting to automotive ign. when SS ign. fails. Their are at least 3 sites devoted to WH. I was able to get some help from Ed Stoller (Engines and Magnets webpage) to figure out the no run problem several years ago. It was not the CD, but the wire from the exciter coil to the CD that was weak. Had continuity, but not capacity (leaking current). Another plus, WH guys recomend IH 2150 red, lol.
