McCormick Cultivator

Horse Drawn McCormick Deering Cultivator
Anybody tell the history of this and color scheme, did some search but could not find anything as far as pictures, maybe I just cant navigate through the site well enough.

I need to replace the pole the ring is there for the end .
Will get it home this weekend

The ones I remeber seeing when I was younger all had the same color scheme back then, medium to dark brown (rust). :lol:

Looks like a New 4 Cultivator with Number 241 gang equipment. Looks pretty complete except for the horse hitch (eveners etc.). Wendell's book lists them from 1914 to 1924, but that isn't correct. They were still in the catalog at least to 1940.

I would paint it as described in paint decisions 31 and 36, and look at 37 as a reference for anything that is unclear from the others. That would have applied from 1927 on. If you want colors from earlier, you would have to look at advertising posters for an approximation.

I probably should have said "equalizer bar and singletrees" to use proper horsie terminology. It is where the horses attach to pull it.
