Farmall Cub

I missed out on Matt's loader so to console myself I went out and purchased this NAMCO fork lift. I have been looking for one for a while and this one popped up on CL. I don't know much about it but it runs well. I do have a question about the fork lift. Can I use it to pick up the back of a Cub and then change the back tires without any other support or wedging the front axle?





This is a replacement tool (my son has moved out of the house). That's the excuse I used to convince my wife I needed it. Any information on this lift would be helpful too.

I don't see why you couldn't lift it as long as you can get the forks in the right place. But I am not sure if the jacking plates are off set or not.

I had to take the forks off to get it on my trailer. It also has fork extensions with it. My little trailer was at max when I hauled it home. The PO said this could lift the whole Cub up at once, although I will not be testing his word.

Don't use the forks by themselves to lift the Cub (steel to steel). Use straps around the forks and some way so the straps don't slip off the end of the forks.

I would not lift the rear of the cub without wedging the front axle. The same weight imbalance exists regardless of how you lift the cub and if your support points with the forks are near where the support pads are the tractor will still flip.

There should be a data plate some place on the fork lift. The plate will provide the lifting capacities at various positions on the forks, lift height, etc..

You need to use all the safety precautions associated with hydraulic powered equipment.

I would still wedge the front end to be on safe side. Better to err on side of caution than err on side of a mishap... and also I like Ray's idea of straps rather than metal to metal

I'd agree with BigDog. Why take the chance? It's a safety thing. Be safe and wedge the front, reducing the possibility of flipping over.

Looks nice; like that thing could do some serious lifting.

Nice truck I also have a Namco truck in my shop. Interesting you would use the children your excuse that was mine also. There is a wealth of information on the web about them on the web. I call mine the shop mule and use it almost every time I'm in the shop.

you might want to careful. Yours is missing the counterbalance weight that mine has that mounts on the rear.

I think the counterbalance weight is there. What I am missing, and hope to find is the roll cage. I used it last night to take some weights off one tractor and put them on another. I should have taken pictures while I was doing it but it was so easy ( and fun) that I didn't think about it until it was over and done.

Fork lifts really make working on the tractor easier. We had that loader off my 140 and on the trailer in about 2 minutes after we unhooked everything.

very nice and useful . we had a couple of them at work, one with forks and the other had a barrel grabber. Capacity plate stated 2000lb , ours had a onan engine . only issue we ever had was a hyd leak at the control valve. previous mechanic put a eves trough under the valve with a drain running back in to the hyd tank, it kept the floors dry.
