Sounds good to me! I really like the Michelins and the Firestones after looking at them, however I wish they were a LITTLE BIT more agressive. Not much, but a little more. Shopping for tires is like shopping for a car/truck. I feel like I'll never decide!

Just turn 80,000 miles on my Michelin LTX and should get at least 10,000 more. Not a fan of the Goodyear wranglers that came new with the truck. Cheaply made (in my opinion) with side wall problems. Happened on my suburban as well. Michelen are worth the extra $$.

I have not driven our 2 SUV's without a set of Michelin LTX's on them. I just put a NEW set on my 2002 Mercury Mountaineer (all wheel drive) at 135,000 miles. Carol Elizabeth has 82,000 miles on her original set of Michelin's and they're still going strong. You can buy good oats at a good price...OR, you can buy oats for less (that have already been run through the horse) BUY Michelin Tires and you'll buy them a LOT LESS OFTEN  ...'Country'

I had one set of Coopers on a previous 4Runner. Never again. Difficult to keep balanced and wore out quickly.

I know this thread is old, but thought I would put my outcome on here for future readers looking for tires.

I went with the Cooper STT tires and they were great! I purchased the $100 lifetime balance and rotation and tried to get it done every other oil change (around every 7,000 miles). I ended up having 77,600 miles on the tires when I sold the truck. They were still running fine and while the tires made a little bit of noise, they rode great. Great all terrain grip and great wear. Now....when I sold it, they had some wear left in them, but not much.

I agree with Don. I am now retired from Michelin, so no longer have a dog in the fight. But I've never been a fan of Cooper tires, and I think you had a very fortunate experience with them that not everyone could count on.

Jim Becker wrote:My bigger trailer came with Coopers. My experience was not that good. Of course, trailers are a little different deal than on a pickup. A dealer in Fredericktown had a Cooper sign on the wall, but commented that they didn't sell many any more because they were so poor with warranty claims.

Hard to read that and understand it :? Coopers are an outstanding tire , not even on the radars as cheap or low quality. I been running Coopers since the early 90's on family cars and trucks they have always worked out well and I'm a cheap sob and wont spend a dime if it won't last a long time.

I've run Cooper LT tires on my 4X4 one ton for years with great success. I've been plowing snow for quite a while and they work great. AT's load range E with a 10 ply rating, I think they're called Discovery. Fairly aggressive deep tread without any road noise and plenty of traction. ...and no where near $1000.

I am running BFG All Terrain T/A KO in size LT245/70R16 on my 07 Dakota. Only about 3000 good weather miles so far. They drive good, quiet, straight and true. I like them so far, but no winter driving, sand or mud yet. I'll report after winter how they do.
