this unit is a blast to drive, save for the hard low speed steering. Anyone have a Carolyn PS unit?

w6 progressPutting the finishing touches on the W6. it sports a couple of modifications, key start, 12volt (generator), and the seat is (and was when i bought it) raised about 5 inches. I wanted to keep the tractor as close to original as possible while making it as trouble free and easy to operate as possible. that meant not using the original high current starter button setup. the casting was broken and repaired several times from pressing harder and harder to make start contact.

thanks, guys.
there was a moments concernation when we first started it. had my son and another guy from the club installing parts after painting, grease, oil, gear lube (14 GALLONS after filling my face and thinking about the problem, it occured to me that if one installed the plug wires CCW instead of CW, then......yup, backwards 1-2-4-3 don't run too good now to get the generator working that's the last item. oh, and mount the receiver hitch, and umbrella 'If they're tappin', they're not burnin'

Partsman - good luck with your W4. i'm sure it'll come out great. it so happens that as i was looking for a Standard tractor, the first thing to come along was a lead on a W4 1945. i settled on the W6, but my son David decided he wanted something bigger than a cub cadet. so the W4 has been dissassembled in his garage, and all the removable parts were cleaned/repaired/ tanked/blasted/ and primed along with the W6 parts. so we're going to paint the wheels, put them on the carcass, and bring it up to my shop for completion with the hope of running for our July Show.
