Electric mower blade clutch

Helping my neighbor replace the mower blade clutch on a 757 JD (Did I say that out loud). This is a $300+ clutch assembly. We finally got the old one off by using a 3 jaw pulley and taking our time. It was really tight. The problem is how to install the new assy without damaging it. There are two problems. One is how to align the the key to the keyway in the shaft. The new assy will have to be pressed on about an inch or more before touching the key. Then it is too late to clock the clutch in case the key and keyway do not line up. Which will happen, because you are trying to align it blind. Then there is the problem of how to press the clutch assy on to the shaft. The 7/16 fine thread bolt is too short to start pulling it on to the shaft. How do you heat the clutch assy, since it has sealed bearings and a electo magnet?
Anyone out there ran into this problem?

Unless because it's a bigger machine I don't know why you would need to press it back on. Was it rusted on? I've done our F525, Lx186, and a Lawn Boy GT18 H, and I didn't need a puller on any of them to get the clutch off. With a little cleaning they all slid right back on, in fact the JD's hanging down were hard to hold up while trying to get the bolt started. If you have to press it on why not just start with a longer bolt. Make sure it has plenty of threads started before torquing down on it. If I remember right on ours you can have the key part way out in order to line it up.

Clutch should just pull off ( yes I know ). Just remove any rust on the shaft with some emery cloth and then put anti-seize on the shaft. It should slide right back on with out to much trouble.
If not use some military words on it, that works for me

We must not be looking at the same type machine. This is the big commercial type zero turn 757 with a 25 hp motor. Nothing was rusted, just a press fit. The 3 jaw puller strained all the way. The clutch is installed on the rear of the crankshaft. The smaller JDs with a vertical engine has one similar to this one. But they are made in two pieces. An inner sleeve that you can line up to the keyway in the shaft easier. Then the clutch assy slides over this sleeve. I don't see how this one comes apart.

According to the JD parts web site you need either a TCA12522 or TCA 15800 clutch depending on serial number of the mower. The clutch probably will not have these numbers on them but will have a Ogura or Warner number on it. I don't have my cross reverence book at home. Just a guess, some one may have put the wrong clutch on it before you got a hold of it. Of all the mowers and electric clutches I have worked on I have never had to press one on.
