Hi,
Other than a url, is there no way to upload an image?

Try it now. Newly registered members are not allowed to upload images (for obvious reasons), but now that you have posted look for the upload attachment tab below the post box. (note: image size is limited to 512KB -- any dimensions that meet the file size requirement will work.)

Thanks for the tip. I've attached a photo of the outside of this object. It has a square-beveled hole on the outside.
Inside is a recessed area that looks like it has some letters on it, but I cannot make anything out.
I assume that at least the small end is broken off, but maybe the diagonal end as well. If it is indeed a plow point, then
that diagonal side is likely original and not the result of a fracture.
I'm just curious what era this object is and what it is.

Thanks for any assistance or ideas.

Could be. I'm hoping someone recognizes which one it is. I'm interested in the era that it was used.
Thanks.

Any antique plow experts. Or were there so many of these things that it's likely I'll never know.
I'm mostly interested in what era this was used. Is this early to mid 20th century or maybe even late
1800's ?

If you can identify the numbers, they may be part of a part number from a major manufacturer.

Parts catalogs for some antique US manufactured machines are still available on line.

Edit: http://www.equipmentlocator.com/asp/bro ... e/viewall/

Just guessing, this is only a partial list of plow manufactures.
I have an excuse. CRS.

I have dug up another part of the plow and have partially cleaned it.
I really need an antique plow expert. See if I have the pieces arranged correctly.
I can read some of the letters on the new piece which I believe is a plow point.
I can see the letters "ILLU" and there are letters before and after. Then there's more symbols or numbers or letters
to the right of that. I'm hoping someone will at least recognize the style such that they might
identify the manufacturer.

Thanks.

Do I have these parts arranged correctly? Seems I just need a mold board.

Check with these people, they helped me identify some horse drawn plows:

Thanks for the tip; I'll do that.
I'm still getting some rust off the piece. This morning I saw other words on another
part of the piece. I think it says "Stamped", but at the very lease, I can see
the letters "tamp" I think.
Unfortunately I didn't check my sacrificial anodes last night and they were so covered
in crud that last night's cleaning didn't do much. I've cleaned them up nice this morning
and it's bubbling away.

Anyone know how to set up my profile so that I get an email when the post is updated?

Not sure how I did that. After setting that up that's how I access the forum. Click on board index, then view new post. Makes keeping up a lot easier plus you see post from all forums.

Glad you learned something new. I know what the plow is now. I just don't know the year.
This is a C. Billups and Sons, Co. "Champion" Plow.
After more cleaning, I finally read the whole word "Champion" or at least "HAMPION and wasn't totally
sure about the first letter. But what else could it be.
I did get the name C. Billups correct too. So, onward to get some history on this plow.
This is great. What a breakthrough.
