Oliver 77 get a new lease on life w/pics

Postby Bezirk » Sat Jan 09, 2016 2:37 pm

I purchased this Oliver 77 from Carm ( a forum member) in Maryland , the motor was locked, I bought a reworked block, cam and crank in PA. The tractor sat in the back of my shop for several years, last year I took it to my friend's shop and here is the end result. We will start it in a week or so, just waiting on a few things including oil with zinc, ETC. i will post more when we start it. The paint is PPG automotive, restored and painted by Mr. Jeff Patterson with some help from me.

HOLLY SMAKERS!!! that's a beauty of a 77!! LOL!! ---Dad had a 70 that he put me on to help plow with 2-bottom rope lift plow when I was 8!!---been around tractors/trucks ever since!
I always liked the older Olivers, had a Super 99 GM one time, most of them had the 3-71 Detroit diesels in them! thanks; sonny

Looking forward to your visit Cecil and of course you are welcome to drive it, now I need to get some of the others looking better. I won't be able to make them look as good as this because I would end up in the poor house .

My first restoration was a 1937 Oliver Hart-Parr Row Crop 70.

Jeff Patterson the man that restored my 77 has at least one Hart Par an several Oliver's. He is a full time 3rd generation farmer. Some of his Oliver's were purchased by his grandfather. He has become very knowlageable of Oliver and is highly respected in our community as the Oliver authority. His dedication to factory correctness and perfection in body work and painting are very evident . I took it to him because I knew I would never get the time nor do I have the excellent skills that he has to get it restored to this level. I am truly appreciative of his efforts and skills in bringing back this piece of history.

Well, he did a remarkable job. Those 77's are one of the nicest looking tractors ever built. Thanks for posting the before and after pictures.

Excellent job. I've always liked shrouded engine tractors.
