Quick question...electric start conversion...

Can i use the starter/flywheel off an old style single cylinder (black cover) briggs 7hp vertical to convert the same style, 8hp horizontal briggs recoil start to electric?

I don't see why it would not work if the parts fit. I did it on a 8 hp Tecumseh but I had to drill and tap the holes to mount the starter. The boss for the mounting the starter was cast right, just did not have the holes drilled. Stan

Ill have to check if its cast on there or not. The 8hp is going on a old G9 bolens and it just doesnt feel right to pull start a rider :) lol. I tossed around the idea of getting something with a bit more power, but i figured 8hp will drag my lawn cart around ok.
