Farmall Cub

I brought a TO-30 back from the dead last fall and have it running great again. One of the issues I have yet to resolve is the fender bolts. One side the bolts are snapped and there are no nuts on it but they are in tight and the fender doesn't move and pounding on it with a hammer doesn't do anything but hurt my ears. The other side has one bent bolt keeping the nut in place and the other is unmoveable. All bolts heads and nuts are square so sockets are out of the picture.

So my question is how do I get them out to replace them? Without replacing them I can't install stabilizer bars for the 3 point. I was thinking about cutting them out and pounding the new ones in place but there has to be an easier way without torching them and cooking the paint off.

Any help would be appreciated!

Mini-sidegrinder with cutoff blade if you can get to it. Bolts are probably not re-usable anyway.

Once they are cut how do you get the parts out of the holes? I'm hoping I don't have to take off the tires to get to them easily but it seems to be the best way.

I would think a drift pin and some penetrant would work. Maybe a picture would help understand what you're dealing with.

That is a really good idea for a drift pin. I have a good sized one I used on a super m belt change. I've been dousing with penetrant for a few days so hopefully it is working.

My 1953 TO-30 has 4 Rivets and 4 bolts on each fender, the best way to remove them would be start with a 4 1/2 inch grinder till you get them down to close to the fender as you can and then use a high speed air grinder with a 2 1/2 inch x 1/16 wheel. and then a punch and hammer,

First off, if they are really giving you a hard time, get the wheel/hub out of the way. Do one side at a time and put solid blocking under the axle housing. As I recall, the bolt holes through the axle housing are 2 separate holes, one at the top and another at the bottom. You can soak each half with penetrant from top and bottom. If the bolts won't come out in one piece, use a die grinder or Dremel to cut the middle section out of each bolt. Cut it at a slight angle that will let you squarely hit it with a drift and knock the bottom half down and the upper half up. If heat is necessary, do one piece at a time to avoid heating the housing any more than necessary. Heat both ends of one bolt half and let it cool before trying to drive it again.

Jim that is what I have planned. Just seems like a lot of work right now and I'm feeling lazy! Another idea I had was using a pulley puller to press them out. Not sure if I can get a good bite though. I'm going to have to get at it though because I have some trees (20+ 4' trees) to plant and I have a pto driven auger that I would like to have a second stabilizer for. Just trying to find the fastest way because like most people time is limited.
