Plug Wires To Distributor On Super-A

Postby Dan England » Wed Jul 05, 2006 12:09 pm

The sequence in which the plug wires attach to the distributor is covered on pages 35 and 36 of the Owner's Manual. Those pages are missing in my manual. Rudi used my copy for his manual site so I can't get the info there. Can anyone tell me the correct sequence. I am guessing that it will be 1-3-4-2 going CW as that is correct for the Cub. Your help will be appreciated. Dan

Had to double check. 1-3-4-2 and clock wise on both the magneto and ignition distributors.

Now for my next question. The H mag that I plan to use came on a Cub. I continued to use it it on the Cub for several years. I removed the mag and replaced it with a proper one when I sold the Cub recently. Since the mag will now be on an SA do I need to do anything other than the normal timing operation? Dan

Other than maybe a tune-up before hand, just put it on.

Does this mean that a J-4 mag will work OK on an H, and/or that an H-4 mag will work on a Cub?

The advance is different on an h4 and j4, and the H4 is onlger making wires a very cole fit behind ill filter, but I beleive they will work, jsut not quite as they should.
If you are not part of the solution,

I don't know if a J-4 will work on an H but the H-4 worked on my Cub over a period of 5-6 years probably. I felt that the new owner would want the proper mag so I put on the J-4 when I sold the Cub. Dan
