Cub Bumper/Grill Guard???

Postby gitractorman » Sun Aug 27, 2006 8:55 pm

Does anyone know if the bumper/grill guard from a 140, like this will work on a Cub? Does this one just pinch/clamp around the front axle housing, or am I missing something?

http://cgi.ebay.com/Tractor-Bumper-Farm ... dZViewItem

Or, has anyone come up with a design for the Cub tractor? I was out clearing some brush yesterday, and quickly realized that this would be a smart item to have if I plan to do any more work clearing brush. I know, not the best use of a Cub, but hey, gotta use what you have. Plus, I got some good seat time in yesterday.

Thanks,
Bill

Bill I think the same seller has them for cubs too at the same price. I thank they bolt up in place of one of the axle clamps

gitractorman, Check out the one on my tractor site below. Got it many years ago, but not soon enough. LOL. Paid $40 for it and $100 for a grading and leveling blade. Don't know who made it. Was going to make my own, but found this one first.

It looks a lot like it goes to a Ford? But it is offset, so must be a custom deal for an IH.

I bet he would make you one. Let us know how you make out.

Dan,
Thanks for the info. I knew that I had seen pics of one on a Cub somewhere, but I could not remember where it was. How do you like the one on your Cub? Do you have to remove it to mount the blade on the front? Looks like it would be in the way of the lift bar. It looks like the guard sticks out quite a bit in the front, so I'm not sure now if I want one or not.

I sent an e-mail to the e-bay seller asking about one for a Cub, so I'll let everyone know what I find out.

Thanks,
Bill

Ok, another question for everyone. Was this an original IH option or was it available from an aftermarket company, or was this something that someone welded up and the idea cought on? I thought that the ones for the Super A/140s were actual factory options, but I could be wrong.

Thanks,
Bill

Tony:

Looks like even though he didn't answer the email, he added them to his store/auction list. I searched his store earlier today using all the varying strings I could think of, and came up with nothing. Even looked at his whole list.

At least now we know they are there..

I would be interested to see how it mounts...

Oh, I fixed the link in the first one and added the pic... click the edit button and you will see what I did.. the second one I left so you can click the edit button and see what didn't work..

I believe that one of Harold Robert's cubs came with the guard. I don't remember much about it but you might contact Harold for more info. Dan

My bumper uses a straight piece of channel, with simular design on vert. bars. Has two pieces of flat stock welded at an angle to the channel to meet with clamps. Two on each side, 4 total. Bent slightly to allow clearance.. will make pix availible if you like. Worked ok with L&G blade, don't know about 54-A, but I think it will work.
