resizing pic for avatar

Postby freebird » Tue Oct 24, 2006 1:27 pm

I have been trying to resize a photo I took last weekend and want to use it as my new avatar. Is anyone willing to re-size it to the required size and email it back to me? I'm at work and we do not have any imaging software that we can use. We are not allowed to download stuff either.

Terry:

Use IrfanView to resize. You have to actually choose to maintain aspect ratio and then either choose 60 pixels as the width or 80 pixels as the height.. either way neither value can exceed 80 pixels. Here is the link for the program IrfanView 3.98. It is a very, very easy program to use. Oh.. save the pic as xxx (resized).gif so you do not replace or confuse the original file.. I usually save to a subfolder called either Irfan or Resized.

Have a look at the How to Do Neat Things in a Post thread..

Irfanview has been my friend for more than 10 years. Highly recommended. :D

If anyone is still reading this post I used the paint program that comes with windows to resize my avatar. Use the stretch/skew option under the image choice.

JimT, I's still looking, reading, and yakking as usual. I haven't thought of paint but will check it out. Pete
