I have ideas but fear to share them. If Beverly gets wind of them she will have me building more space for hers.

Get some inexpensive 4' fluorescent shop lights and put wide spectrum (GroLux is a common brand) tubes in them. The lights should be within 12" of the foliage to mimick full sun outside. If you're using them to suppliment sunlight from a window, 18" is okay. I've built plant stands out of 2x4s and attached the lights with chain, used styrofoam under the various sized pots to get the foliage the same distance from the lights. Big, bushy plants will need fluorescent lights on the sides and rear of the stand also. Stay away from incandescent lights - they get too hot.
Use shallow trays (old cookie sheets) with pea gravel (the round quartz pebbles) in them under the pots to increase humidity, keep just enough water in the trays so the pebbles are about 1/4 out of the water. Kinda pile pebbles under each pot to keep the plants from getting waterlogged. "Chance favors the prepared mind."

Wife has one cactus thats 6' tall and potted in a 3" dia. container. We have to use a dolly to move the thing around. Several smaller cactus. Did purchase and install a 4' flourescent fixture and two bulbs. Eugene
your local home improvement store usually stocks the 4' , 2' or 12" sunlight flourescent bulbs. buy a timer as well, usually $10. also a good source of indoor growing tips is high times magazine, one of the surveyors gave me a copy of one, because we were going to put a new highway in meigs county ohio.
