My grandaddy use to make these for me in the fall of the year I think.
I cant remember what kind of tree he made theem out of. I know it was a time of the year when the bark wood turn a lose . Does anybody know what kind of tree it was and when you can make them.
I am the oldest one in the family now. and nobody left to ask.

I have seen them being made but has probably been 60 years ago. I agree with George on willow and think that the bark slips off the wood when the sap is rising in the spring season. Dan

I don't think I'm as old as the other gents. But I remember something as to a willow tree.

I hadn't thought about them in years. I used to make my own, but they never worked as good as Dad's
