Very nice Cub and the tires sure are different.
I really gotta look at some of the slides I took when we lived in Germany in the 80's. Lots of small farms around Lahr and Wuerzburg, where my family comes from, with lots of Cub sized tractors.

It's been sometime since I've seen them, but have seen that type tread on industrial earth moving equipment. The center bar carried most of the weight and minimized wear on the lugs on hard surfaces, but in soft ground the lugs made enough contact to help traction.

That is an American Cub. It most likely came over on the Marshall Plan.
The head lights are common to the German tractors, I can not think of the brand right now, I have some out in the parts room.
The tires are to help reduce road wear. Notice the 16 KM sign on the grill.
That is a license that allows that tractor to travel up to 16KM an hour down the road.
I have some of the same ones on my D-219 etc....

Besides the minimal wear on the lugs I bet thay are a lot smoother riding tire with that center bar design.

That sign would not effect the cooling. It probably has about the same surface area as a bar grill vs the screen grill.
JD had thier radiators mounted behind the gas tank. LOL
