cub maintenance

Postby bjgravley » Sat Jan 17, 2004 5:40 pm

just getting my cub broke in, and had a few questions like after running the tractor for a while the radiator steamed a little , i have heard that cubs dont have waterpumps and was wondering how the water circleated, and if the steaming is anything to worry about, i also greased it and i found 5 lube points all on the front end is that all there is, i plan to change the oil and was going to use 30 w oil thanks for any help.

BJ:

First question -
i have heard that cubs dont have waterpumps and was wondering how the water circleated

Cubs have a thermo-siphon cooling system and a little steam isn't much to worry about.

I would suggest the following.

You should go to http://www.binderbooks.com and order the following:

Cub Owner's Manual
TC-37F Parts Manual
GSS-1411 Service Manual

These are invaluable and essential in using, maintaining and repairing your Cub. Until you have your own copy, I would suggest that you click the manual link below and have a read in the Owner's Manual. Many of these questions will be answered. Also you could go to the ATIS Cub FAQ's (frequently asked questions) at http://www.atis.net/CubFAQ/cub_faq.html and there is tons of really good info there as well. Also, the Best of H.L. Chauvin is a good read as well and can be found on the home page of this forum.

Hope this helps
