Get one for a Nissan 720 truck they are cheap. Napa or Auto Zone or Advance Auto.
The alternator is a Hitachi 14231 . It is compact and easy to mount. You can convert to one wire very easy. There are three terminals on the back of the alternator, marked bat, S, And L. to make it a one wire you need a small jumper wire from the S terminal to the Bat terminal. Nothing hooks to the L terminal, the L terminal was the circuit for the idiot light. The one wire will be to the Bat terminal. Also I like this Alt. because it has a split belt pulley on it the belt pulley can be seperated and spacers put between the two halves so the belt will fit. You will have to loctite the nut on with out any lock washer. You will need a 3/8 X 7.5 inch long bolt, nut and lock washer. Also a piece of black pipe about 2 1/16 inch long to use as a spacer. You can attach all of this to the orginal cub generator bracket. This alternator is about the same dia. as the cub generator so there will be no cutting of the hood.
