Super AV

Postby Joey » Sun Jun 24, 2007 9:21 pm

Made a deal on a Super AV today - tractor hasn't run in years, but motor is loose. Sheet metal looks straight but rusty. Carburetor and distributor ignition was off but found in shed. Will take some cleaning and painting to make it look good. My question is, the starter was missing (used for another tractor) - does a starter from the Cub fit the Super AV? How interchangeable are parts?

Joey, about the only thing I can think of that is interchangeable between the Cub and the Super AV is the oil and water. I think they have the same tune up components though. The starter isn't one of them.

Thanks, Merlin, someone else also confirmed that the starter was different between the Cub and the A's and AV's.

Are the front rims good? If so they'll bring a war price by themselves. If they're bad you can buy ford 8n wheel blanks and weld the traingular centers into them. Brandon. :D

Didn't know that! Everything looked pretty good about the tractor, however I didn't give it the really close inspection. Sheet metal and rims all looked good, including seat and steering wheel. Thanks for the tip about the front wheel.

Super A, C, or super C starter will interchange, an pre-super A starter is the same other than the switch.

parts man is 100% correct. The cubs have the 2 bolt flange and they are smaller and the A's on up have the 3 bolt flange and different types of switches. You should be able to find one fairly easy if you can't, let me know I may have one or two lying around the shop or can order one. All in all though you should be able to find one fairly easy.

The Super A has a 2 bolt flange, but it still won't fit the Cub.
