Straw is usually the left over material from combining oats or wheat and has sometimes a shiney yellow color but mostly pail yellow and has no nutrion to it that is why it is used on lawns for cover and hay in the nicely green stuff, used to feed animals.
Just got done picking up big square bales of Wheat straw yesterday. And big 900lb hay bales last night.
Hope this helps.

Jason pretty well hit it. Straw is the remaining stem from harvesting grain products such as wheat, oats, rye etc. There are no leaves to provide nutritional value to livestock. Hay on the other hand is basically dried grass. The same stuff the animals will eat fresh is dried and baled to preserve it. It contains the plant leaf with nutritional value and taste for livestock. Alfalfa, timothy, clover and several other grass plants make excellent hay.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
