Looking for opinions, I would like to get a brush hog type mower for one of my standard cubs. What is the best one available I don't have fast hitch. Just want info before I start the search thanks

jmalinow, What are you going to be cutting. The WOOD'S 42 and 59 do a good job but it is not the golf course look.

I like the International C-2, it's what came with the Cub. But it's not for mowing lawns if you're particular about the way it looks. I usually cut our back acre where I really don't care about the manicured lawn look.

I've heard good things about Kub Klippers though I don't know much about them. Given the limited design parameters a Cub rotary mower has, the condition of any mower would be more of a concern for me.

I also have an IH C-2. I think the advantage to it and the Woods is probably parts availability, and the fact that a lot of them are still around. You can mow through some pretty tall and heavy stuff with them. I recently got a Kub Klipper, but haven't mounted or used it yet.

I am not looking for a finish cut, something for keeping the brush from growing in. I use a 22 sickle bar for trimming now. I have areas where I am going to bring in a large brush hog to reclaim some pasture land, then I need to maintain it.

I have a Woods 42 mower that I used to keep 3 acres cut. Not exactly a manicured lawn look, but it does look real nice. Keep blades sharp.

I haven't mounted my C-2 up yet, but I have been reading up on these types of Mowers. The C-1, C-2 and C-3 were one of the first ones designed for the Cub.. they were approved by IH and built directly for them. My Guard says right on it International Danco...

The Woods series are also approved by IH.. and most of the others as well. However, the others are correct.. being able to get replacement parts easily is an advantage. CaseIH still supports the C Series Mowers and Woods still supports their Cub mowers as well. That is a definite advantage.

The choice really is up to you and what is available in your area for a good price and IS complete. Now, if you come across a SunFlower, Kub-Klipper, Pennington or other types.. that we do not see all that often, it doesn't mean that they are not viable.. just might be a bit more fun trying to find parts. In some cases.. custom fabrication may be the answer..

Let us know what you find in your area.. but the two most common probably are the Danco C series and the Woods. You will be happy with either from what I understand from other owners. Hopefully I will find out next summer..

I have a bush hog type Kub Klipper and am pleased with the way it performs. But you should realize that getting parts, especially blades, is a problem since production of Klippers stopped several years ago. I have heard that Woods blades can be modified to work on a Klipper but have never needed to replace blades on my unit. Dan

I have a C-2, and it is a great multi-purpose mower. I use it in the pasture, and in the yard. It doesn't do a bad job either way.

I have the C-3(3 blades, 59" cut) which I've been rebuilding, thanks to John at JP's instruction, and like it real well. I've got just over 6 acres of hilly Arkansas mountain land, which I had dozed to clear the cedars several years ago. Then waited too long again and had to to have a friend bush hog it so I can maintain it with the cub. Parts for the mower are readily available from your IH dealer.

i have a c3 and a woods 59 hard to tell the difference in which one did the cutting. i use em as finish mowers and they look real good to me. no better or worse thasn my zero turn mower.

Parts are slightly hard to find for it, I know because i'm in that sitution, but my dad's Bush Hog 412 does an excellent job cutting the thick pastures, and does a beautiful job on the lawn. As good a finish cut as anything else we've used! Theyre not as common I dont htink as some of the others, and parts might end up being a PITA, but its an excellent little mower if you find one at a good deal . I havent got my C-2 up and running yet, so I couldnt say anything about it, but some of the other guys above seem to like em!

I do quite a lot of mowing. Around five acres. I have both a C-42 and a L-59. There is some difference other than width in the two mowers. And they each do a better job than the other depending on my mowing needs. The C-42 does a better job on weeds, light woody brush, and more designed for rough-cutting because of the heavy shredder type blades. On the other hand the Woods 59 style has a three blade h/duty lawn mower blade set-up and can be perfected to give your lawn a more manicured look. Just my two-cents.

I'm with Larry. The 42C on the Cub does decent job on weeds. Nice cut when the blades are sharp! I mow a pasture with the L59 on the Super A and it is definitely finish mower.
