Help/advice needed ... 184 LoBoy

Postby Trent M » Sun Oct 14, 2007 8:32 pm

There is a 184 LoBoy for sale locally that I'm just drooling over. (I need to quit searching for these things if I can't buy them! Cubaccumulytis, ya know.) It seems the asking price is quite high, but there is some good stuff. Included (these prices are my best guess for value):

IH 184 $1600
3 pt $300
high/low trans. $300
IH-3160 mid mower $300
IH-15 tiller $500
IH-54 blade $300
lawn roller $50
tire chains $75

Wow, what a setup! Now the asking price is quite high and I haven't seen the thing yet, but was just wondering what a ballpark estimate for all these goodies might be, assuming everything is usable and in good or average condition? The numbers above are my best guess, but any ideas are greatly appreciated. I'm not too familiar with the implements, 3 pt, and creeper for the numbered loboys. I know value depends greatly on condition, but for the asking price I'm (for now) assuming this stuff is all in fairly good condition. Thanks for any help!!

In my estimation, the 3 point hitch and hi / lo transmission would add about $500 total to the value of the tractor. Making the tractor (with these options) worth about $1700 total. The other implements are pretty reasonably priced. $2800 - $3000 for the whole package if in good shape.

My opinion for what it's worth.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

3 pt $300

Trent, I know these two items are worth more than double what you figured.

help/advice needed...184 lo boy

Trent.
It comes with a lot of hard to find items. These sell for near double the price you listed as Rick said. The general condition would be very important. Most have the egg crate grill missing and it sells for around
$90. The fiberglass battery cover is usually missing and some of the side panels. These are much better units than the earlier 154 and 185 as they have the clutch back on the engine block where it belongs and also have a seperate starter and alternator rather than the starter/generator combination (I believe the very first few serial numbers did use the starter/generator though)
