Grrrrrr, ignition problem

Postby FlyByNite » Thu May 13, 2004 8:50 pm

AAAARRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH. My 48 Cub was getting spark between the magneto and the distributor cap, but nothing at the sparkplugs. I ordered $72 worth of distributeer cap, sparkplugs, wires, rotor, pinion gear. Out with
the old, in with the new. Still great spark to the center of the cap, Zilch spark to the plugs. Since I have replaced everything between magneto and sparkplug I am at wits end as to why I still have no spark to the
plugs. Anyone have any suggestions?

I would take the distributor cap off and make sure the rotor is turning. If not then investigate.

Rotor spins nicely, with the new pinion gear driving it there is almost no slop.

Make sure the rotor is timed correctly, and isn't between wire terminals or pointed to a different one than you are expecting when the mag fires.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!
