1978 Cub Question

Postby Dave Hull » Thu May 20, 2004 9:49 pm

Found serial number 252792 today, bring it home next week. My question is, this tractor Red, I thought the later models where yellow and white. Can some one explain if Red was a possibility?

Also got some implements with her that I might part with. Let me know your needs. Does not have fast hitch, darn.

Red is possible.

I would like to find one too. I want one with the vertical muffler. I want it to be factory red, not one that has been painted. I saw a picture of one on the internet that was down in Florida.

Even though the yellow & white eventually became the standard, some agricultural dealerships ordered red as that was standard for the rest of the line. At least, according to my local dealership which is a 4 generation dealership.

was just reading Ken Updike's book, he said all of the last few tractors were painted red. Also found a '72 cub for sale about 2 miles from home. Price was a little high. $4250 For tractor and RM 42, cults. and blade and plow. Mower was on tractor, but didn't get to see any of the equipment. Sorry I have been absent from the board, but we are remodeling the homeplace and hope to be in some time in June. Have been taking pictures of the tractor, and will post as time and software permit.
