Rusty Bolts

Does anyone recommend applying anything to bolt threads, particularly those that have been cleaned of rust on a wire wheel, before reassembling? Always looking to learn something from the experts. Thanks

Not by far an expert, but I usually use a little bit of anti-sieze compound. I like the copper colored stuff because you can use it on high temp stuff as well as regular old bolts. Also, the oil in the stuff helps keep mother nature at bay.

Paul:

Use anti-sieze. That way you won't have to worry about it. As for galvanized bolts, I would rather not. Use what you have especially if they are still good. If not, get new ones, grade 8 is possible. A little overkill on a bolt never hurt nothin', but a busted grade 5 when you are in the field mowin or plowin is a pain in the you know where :roll: Don't ask ok :?: :oops:
