154 fuel line

My buddy and I just picked up a free 154 from his BIL . The BIL never used it said by buddy could have it. We needed something to keep quite a bit of grass mowed at a vacation lot.

Anyhoo, one of the things that it needs is a fuel line replaced. It came with a rubber hose going straight from the tank, through filter and into the zenith carb.

Does anyone have a decent picture of the routing of the line so I can bend up one from a peice of steel brake line? That worked out real well on my first cub.

Thanks Mr. RedNeck, but I have a 154 and I'd like to see how to route the line around the back plate on the back of the engine and the long dipstick tube. The pictures I saw there might have been a loboy, but not a 154.

I was also hoping to see how the exhaust is routed, since the PO has that all boogered too.

That picture doesn't look right to me. The only related pictures I have are in the Operator's Manual. It shows the line going straight back from the carb through a hole in the large sheet metal tank support. The tank support in the picture you found doesn't cover that area. The bends in that gas line suggest some rebending over the years. Note that there were 2 versions of the hydraulic lines, which may have some impact as well.

I made one for my 154 last year. If this makes any sense, starting at the carb go back through the firewall hole go 90 degrees up then bend it 90 degrees to the sediment bowl. 2 bends around 90 degrees.

Thanks John, I think I see where I can get it through. It will need to be a little different because it is a zenith carb, and it's port(s) a little diffferent

And looking at it again, I'll bet I'll need about a 30" line.

Hi Dennis - Do you need measurements? I just purchased a NOS one, haven't checked to see which carb it fits. More than happy to if you'd like.

Yeah sure Lance, if you got the time. I could wing it, but I'd be better off with some numbers to go by.

Actually anything I put on would be better than what the PO had on there. It had a rubber hose with and in-line filter going directly from the the tank (no sediment bowl) to the carb.

And since I'm doing this for a friend, I want it to be as bullet-proof as I can make it. And a steel gas line is the first priority along with a sediment bowl.

Since you have a Zenith carb, you might want to search for a 184 picture as a guideline on how to route it. I don't have any 184 pictures.
