Mowing Tall Grass

Postby Carm » Tue Jun 01, 2004 7:06 am

This may sound stupid. How high grass can a Cub mow. I have a '47 with a woods 42. Blades are fairly sharp. It seems to load up after the grass (read weeds) is about a foot high. I have a big bush hog to use for the high stuff, I was wonderinh how high everybody else can mow.

Mowing

Postby Jerry56 » Tue Jun 01, 2004 7:17 am

I've mowed with the weeds slapping the front axel. I just raised the deck a little and I have both sides open so it won't clog. Sharp blades are a must.

Do as Jerry says. Be sure the front of the deck isn't higher than the rear when cutting with the deck raised. Tall grass tends to wrap around the spindle if that's the case. Plus you would be cutting with both the front and rear swipe of the blades which would bog it down. Then on your second cut you can lower the deck to normal.
