Introducing "Oilstretcher" the Cub
Thought I'd take a minute and introduce myself. I've been around farms and farming all my life although I've not actually been a farmer. I've got a background in Music, Business, Education, Insurance, and Industry. (In other words, I'm not sure what I'll be if I ever choose to grow up). Experience includes Hospital management, School administration, Aircraft maintenance, Pilot, Teacher, and other careers along the way.
I'm fortunate to live on my Grandad's farm in southeast Kansas. He bought the old Toothacre place in 1911 and my Dad and all but two of his siblings were born here. All that remains of the Toothacre's estate is the family well that still has good water.
I've always tinkered with engines and all things mechanical. I overhauled and rebuilt my first car before I could legally drive.
Current tractors on the farm are: 1930 John Deere D. 1941 John Deere B, 1939 Ford 9N, 1948 Allis Chalmers C, 1956 Farmall 400, and of course the great little Cub. I've owned "Oilstretcher" since 2001 when I bought him from the original owner who was a Harvard Oil Filter Factory Rep. He's pretty much original and came with plow, disc plow, disc, sickle mower, and a cool under belly stone boat.
I've really appreciated the inputs from all of you and your expertise with all things cub.

Stone Boat
The stone boat is nothing more than a piece of 1/4" diamond tread with an angle welded around the perimeter. It's about 20 inches wide and about 5 feet long. It's chained to the drawbar and and has chains to the hydraulic lift arms. Bob, the original owner had a large number of limestone blocks that needed to be moved about a quarter of a mile. He'd lever them on with a long bar and drive to the house and lever them off. He built a big retaining wall around his drive way. Truly an American Ingenuity thing.

Aviation habit
Hi Bill E Bob,
I learned to fly while in High School. Learned in an Aeronca Champ. Now have more than 3600 hours. I use it as a business tool but don't do weather so sometimes have to wait it out.
The Helio was a wonderful aircraft for short field operations and hauled a respectable load. There are still several on the field in Pittsburg but the factory has long ago closed. For many in the Mission Aviation sector it was the vehicle of choice
Check out the latest Mission Plane at http://www.questaircraft.com. The group I work for(AWA) has ordered four of these and I spend most of my time focused on fundraising for the project.

After a bit of reflection I suppose this should be in Way Way off Topic.
