and now they are calling for up to 9 inches of snow tomorrow. Looks like I may have to put the blades and chains on the cub I haven't torn up yet.

Torque TubeI have a torque tube heading up to barnyard that he bought from me. I don't know what his plans are for it but you might want to get with him. It's in good shape.
Thnnkas Mark, but it looks like i have one lined out.

Ouch.. that must a been at least a heart stopper for a sec. Glad the only damage was to the torque tube, that can be replaced. You cannot my friend. Happy you were not hurt. Enjoy the Cubfest time replacing the tube, just take it easy. Pain Killers do help a lot.. Confusion breeds Discussion which breeds Knowledge which breeds Confidence which breeds Friendship

Just came in for lunch, the blade and chains are off the broken tractor, and the flail mower brackets are off Missy, and the plow about half mounted, but I needed to take a break. Yesterday and last night we got about an inch or so of sleet and freezing rain, and if not for that I wouldn't have bothered with the chains. This morning about 7:30 it started snowing. It has been snowing and blowing ever since, and we now we have about 5 or 6 inches here, with official reports in town (about 4 miles away of 7), and 35 miles west of us, reporting 10 1/2inches on the ground. Right now it is snowing so hard that visibility is about 100 yards. Time to hit the recliner till the Percoset takes effect, and then finish up. Probably won't plow till in the morning. Next question is do I want to bother changing the carousel over, or just bundle up good.

Now, John, when you go plow... remember where that rock was and be careful... you don't want to have TWO busted torque tubes now....
Good luck, and hopefully the Percocet (sp?) kicks in soon! Mike in La Crosse, WI Mike in Gibsonia, PA
Got everything changed over to the other cub (I hate switching tire chains), and decided to make a run to check chains, etc. The ground was warm enough the ice had turned loose, and the 8 inches of snow was wet and heavy, but rolling pretty good. I went back and got my coveralls, and started blading, 2 hours and a mile and a 1/4 of gravel road later, I was done with gravel showing in a lot of places.
Unfortunately I will not be doing much for the next few days. Yup, over did it."The Constitution is not an instrument for the government

John, I have some old catcher's chest protectors and cup that you can wear when you plow snow!

I feel bad for you. I had the same thing happen while plowing my friends driveway with my 4x4. I wasn't going fast but from going foward to total stop is something you remember. Had the glove box open and stuff come out from under the seat. Only good thing was I found stuff that had been missing and stuff I didn't know I had
The older I get, the more I appreciate why my friend advised me never to buy a truck that had plowed.... it is surely hard on things.
It hurt me just to look that that broken mount. Sudden stops are no good. Larry 1971 Cub (Rufus) 1950 Cub (Cathy) 1965 Lo Boy Fast Hitch (Nameless III) 1970 Cub 1000 Loader & Fast Hitch (Lee)
Re: Not a good day plowing snow.I wonder if the cast parts are more vulnerable in the cold weather?
