Please help with transmission assembly

Postby hitman » Thu Jul 08, 2004 9:27 pm

I have replaced the bearings in my fathers 49 cub. I have been spending so much time on it I cant see straight. When I went to reassemble the bottom shaft (countershaft) I took great care to get the gears and spacers on exactly as they should go. Now It does not look like I have enough shaft to to tighten everything down. What could I have done wrong?

What part of the countershaft does the front bearing ride on? Can it be the threaded part? Does it have to be an unthreaded part?

you have something incorrect in your reassembly. no bearing should ride on threads.
if you don't already have them go to Binder Books and get GS1411 service manual and TC-37F parts manual at http://www.binderbooks.com/

in the meantime, you can view these publications at http://www.cleancomputes.com/Cub/index.html

the parts explosions and assembly instructions should solve your problem.
