Hi all,
I'm restoring my Late Father's 1950 C. I have been sanding off the old paint on the seat and came across yellow primer paint, Did IH always paint their tractors yellow before painting them Red?
Heres a picture of the tractor, This was taked at a friends house, I had Carb. trubles.

Are you sure it's yellow and not dingy white? Could be a white demo? I dont' think IH used that yellow primer to the late 50's and 60's. It's probably white that has yellowed. Check your vin and casting numbers. You have a demonstrator.

The paint was Yellow not White or Red Primer. I didn't take pics, but if I come across any more when I start on the tractor, I'll take pictures.

Hi all,
After a long stay at my friends house, I drove the Farmall C home today, Almost didn't make it though, My left front tire is dry rotted real bad and the tire tred split on the way home, I nursed it the rest of the way.
Here are a few updated pictures of the C sitting in my drive way.
Question do you guy's now a cheeper place to buy a new tire, it's a 500-15 ?

Although we can go by the statistics, the dealership would paint your tractor any color you wanted as long as it paid. I have seen a few pictures of yellow farmalls that weren't industrial or municipal. I will see if I can find them.

Hi all,
I found out through my brother Don, that our Dad replaced the tractor steat with one from another tractor, that was being parted out. The seat that was on the tractor was way far rusted to been used again. My brother told me the seat was yellow and that our Dad painted Red. I'll up date the pictures of the progress in the morning.
I have the hood, grill, gas tank , draw bar frame and flat pully off.
The C looks cold with no clothing on. lol.

Hi all,
When my Dad bought the C in 1983, it was sitting in a field for 31 years with an flat back left tire. The farmer that owned the C had so much money , he just went out and bought another tractor rader then fix the tire. When My Dad bought the C it had Cultivators on it, front and back. I think that is the reason for the wide front. I know it was an optional eqipment, for that's what the parts catalog said.
When my Dad went over to bring the C home, he left the Cultivator there. I wish he would at least brought home the lift linkage for the back.
I hope that answer your question.
Len.
