Did a 1939 M have any kind of hydraulics from the factory? Can anything be added?

The tranmission driven Lift-All was available. It can be easily installed in a tractor that didn't have one. It isn't the most powerful hydraulic system but did what was expected of it at the time.

As Jim stated, they did have the optional belly pump. You can upgrade to the cam driven pump as used on the later models, but you will need a reservoir. It would also be advisable to change the cam gear to the heavy duty as many cam gears were broken under the added stress.
