I was wondering if their are different IH oil pressure gauges. I have a 1945 H and I bought a new oil pressure gauge for it. The previous owner swapped gauges just before I bought it because the old gauge was broke. The gauge he put on it and the one that I bought new are both indicating pegged on the high side. I haven't tried a regular pressure gauge yet to see exactly how much pressure I have. I was just wondering if I had the wrong gauges or if I have some kind of problem internally. Also does anyone know what the normal operating pressure should be?
Thanks Brian

Bypass spring may be sticking, but if it was recently overhauled and crank ground it may run pretty high for a while.

I&T manual IH-8 says the oil pressure on the H is 60 to 70 lbs.
My guess is you have the wrong oil pressure guage. Valubilt lists 3 different oil pressure guages for IH tractors plus one universal guage. The advertised guages list the max oil pressure at 45 psi. One guage does not list the pressure and it's for the A, B, C, and Cub -- A, B, C (60 psi) Cub (30 - 35 psi).
I have an excuse. CRS.

Thanks guys! I guess I've got to dig into it further and find out what's going on.
