Re: page expires
I get that too. It is I think a part of the new XMHTML4.0 compliancy or something like that. When forms are filled they expire when you hit the back button, because primarily they are virtual, it is part of the virtual security policies and is meant to protect from passwords or other sensitive data being harvested by hackers via the cache and stuff. At least that is how I understand it.
When I am posting a pm .. it is almost impossible to go back and look at it once you have previewed it.. and there are a few other examples. Could be that there is a workaround as EJ pointed out, but what I found was in performing some of my mod duties.. I would take an action then try to go back a page.. I would get the Page Expired notice then I would remember to right click on my back button and go back to the page before I did my thing. Then I could reload the page. Just a matter of getting used to it. After 5 mins or so, it became almost like old hat again.
Mind you I am using IE6. In IE7 you cannot right click on the back button. It no workee.. another Microsoft improvement they say surrrrrrre it issssss

Re: page expires
I use fire fox and left click to go back OK. It worked ok in Netscape 7.2 OK too but that had other issues so I went to Mozzilla. I left click up to three times to get back to the index.

Re: page expires
I have been having a whack of problems with mysql4 errors, page expired errors and server not found errors. Not sure why.
But I do know that my hub blew up a couple hours ago. I just got 75% of my network back up. Had to get a new 8 port hub. Needed the 4 ports on my router to help out as well.
Now I am hoping I might be able to get the rest of the network up. I am also curious to see if my hub shorting out, could have been causing some bad packets which may have corrupted the stream to the server...
Questions, Questions, Questions..

Re: page expires
Bill:
MySQL is an open source database built by Sun Microsytems. It powers a lot of stuff including much of Microsoft. It is really rather common. It is THE database for phpBB software programs such as this version. mysql4 refers to version 4 and it is a failure to connect to the database to retrieve the document that one is trying to access, in this case a forum page.
The Page Expired errors are generated because the page was a virtual form that had not been completed. By completed means registered in the database so that the document can be retrieved. When you get page expired errors you have to re-input everything you lost. The only thing that will reappear is the data that is already in the database (mysql) such as a quoted post.
The server not found errors were generated because one of the servers in the redundant queue (there are usually a couple or three or four servers in large sites that are dedicated to provide 24/7 service. One server usually is not sufficient. Much like the triple redundancy in the Apollo capsules.. and the quintuple redundancey or better in the Shuttle Orbiters) was rebooting.
As for the rest of the stuff... the hub is just a switch.. that utilized Cat5 8 wire shielded or double quad. Similar to twisted pair, but shielded and that is what carries the cts/rts bits that make up packets.
Does that help?
