Postby dw » Tue May 06, 2008 6:38 am

Can someone tell my why my carb. is getting extremely cold where it bolts to the exhaust manifold while the engine is running. Will it hurt anything?

At that point the evaporating gas inside is working exactly the same as the refrigerant in your freezer. I'd be more concerned if it didn't get cold.

Exactly as George said - evaporation. When I drag raced we ran alcohol in a pull-through turbo setup. It was neat after a run to see thick frost falling off the carb right next to a glowing red-hot turbo charger.

i had an '85 ranger that iced the carb up when i got my gas at one place, but not another. fuel blend could have something to do with it too.
