How Many?

Just a dumb question. We all know how many Farmall Cubs were made, but does anyone have a estimate as to how many are still in service? I know each year there are fewer than the year before but has anyone guess-ta-mated whats left? It raining, I'm bored, should have something better to do but I don't.

The numbers may not be declining as quickly as we think. The only ones to subtract are the ones that actually end up on the scrap heap. Many are being parted out, but often those parts are used to bring another one or two back from the dead.

Of the Cubs that live here there are 7 that have been brought back to life. I know many other Cubbers are doing the same thing.

I'm sure Scruffy has been revived more than once.

Does each bolster that can't be repaired spell the end of a Cub? Assuming that there are no after-market parts (or any parts from other types of tractors like the Lo-Boy) that are a direct replacement, I would assume that a single-source fallible part would slowly but surely spell the end of the line...

That doesn't account for the numbers of replacement parts that were made for years by IH and the ones that are being made aftermarket now. As of the last 2 years or so, radiator bottom castings were made aftermarket and being sold on e-bay and through some parts suppliers.

Bob Israelite was selling the castings before he retired and moved to the sunny south. Do you know of another seller? Bob was selling them for $200... not a bad price to gain a tractor.
