Oh my Ears - Muffler/Silencer Question

Postby ScottyG » Tue Aug 17, 2004 7:11 am

Well I bought IHs replacement muffler for my cub and I swear it's louder than the original. Do I not have something installed correctly because I now have to wear hearing protection around this thing.

The Stanley replacement mufflers that usually are used to replace the original IH mufflers sound nothing like the originals. What brand of muffler do you have?

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

I'm at work right now but the replacement was ordered from Joe's Farmall Parts. I do remember that it was wrapped in "official" international packaging if that helps. I can update this post tonight when I get home.

At any rate, I was wondering if raising the muffler on the exhaust pipe so that it's above the hearing plane will help. It is very loud.

Yes, elevating the noise above the hearing plane will help. It's unusual because even with a straight pipe, the C 60 engine doesn't make that much noise.

:P :P Sure did sound sweet when Donny let it speak to me over the phone. I felt privliged because Donny`s Cub leads a pretty sheltered life and he just dont let his 49 talk to everybody. In fact muffler-less 49 sounded so sweet that I almost dropped the phone trying to give it a hug. (Hmmm,I~wonder?)
Then came Bronson
